About artist and teacher Stephanie Ignazio

I am an artist, a teacher, a creative cheerleader and a woman who grows thousands of flowers each year.

I grew up watching butterflies and chasing grasshoppers. Growing up in the city, I looked forward to our yearly vacation to the White Mountains of New Hampshire. I would walk across the street and talk to the horses and I was always drawing.

After graduating from Massachusetts College of Art, it took me a bit to figure out what I wanted to do with my BFA. I decided to re-enroll in school after a brief stint as a pastry chef made me realize that I loved helping my fellow students more than actually creating sweets myself. My Masters in Creative Arts in Learning from Lesley University propelled me right into the career of my dreams.

I taught elementary art for over 20 years, when I decided to transition to teaching women. Art had always been a powerful tool in my life, and helped me thru many painful experiences. I knew I wanted to help others feel that magic.

I started at first teaching mixed media, but soon began incorporating my love for meditation, journaling, storytelling and music into these art classes. They soon became offerings that nourished the creative soul and helped many connect back to their creativity.

My love for fabric started in college where I designed ballgowns and special occasion dresses. It jumped to a whole new level when I had my two girls and found myself dusting off my sewing machine creating one of a kind outfits, that soon I began to sell. A client once asked for a matching handbag to her daughter’s outfit, and suddenly a handmade handbag and accessory business was born!

My whole life has been about following what lights me up creatively and helping others connect to that magic spark. I’ve never been a “serious” artist, instead focusing on creating playful characters and art that makes people smile.

Creating art for licensing allows me to share my imagination with the world!

Hazel and Henrietta is named after my two daughters.

Each has their own unique personality, and with it comes these two nicknames.

Hazel is the more spiritual and soulful. The sassy. The spirited. I once bought a book when she was little “Parenting your Spirited Child”. She continues to amaze me by flying all over the world visiting incredible places with her magical camera.

Henrietta is my doe eyed, book-loving sweetheart. A heart bigger than one could ever think. Filled with compassion she loves to learn and now as an adult she works with little humans reading them stories and encouraging them to bloom.

Hazel and Henrietta combines these two sides of myself. The spiritual seeker who believes in the power of art to heal with the sweet, fun, playful, colorful world of my imagination.

Hazel and Henrietta encompasses who I am as a creative being.

I am an empath, an intuitive and a painter who follows her own inner wisdom.

I am a creative guide sharing stories of healing and transformation, from a place of pure honesty and authenticity. I will be the first one to look up what it means when a particular animal crosses my path or pull out an oracle deck for an answer.

I follow the moon. I listen to spirit. I watch the birds and I talk to the animals.

I am also a life-long learner. A book worm. A woman who loves to draw cute animals with big smiles and bold, colorful flowers that dance in the wind. Color makes my soul happy. Music from the 80’s makes me get up and dance. I love a good dirty joke and I truly hate small talk. I grow all those flowers for charity because it makes my heart happy.

These two parts of me, create a whole.
